UNITED KINGDOM – Nigel Farage has demanded a tougher immigration policy after large amounts of dust were allowed to migrate from Africa and settle in the UK this week.
The UK Independence Party leader said the coalition’s “soft” immigration policy had opened the door for Saharan dust to enter the UK “without any stringent checks”.
Mr Farage’s outcry comes as a survey suggests 77% of Britons want immigration cut, and 100% want foreign dust out of their eyes.
‘Foreign dust is bad for Britain!’
Although he acknowledged global meteorological patterns “played a part” in the movement of dust clouds, Nigel Farage laid the majority of the blame on a lack of proper checks and balances at the UK border.
The political leader said: “We must be mad as a country to allow great swarms of non-British dust to come and cover objects that were being covered just fine by British dust.”
Mr Farage claimed he could barely recognise his own neighbourhood since red Saharan dust recently moved into his area, covering everything as far as the eye could see.
“If we don’t crack down now, dust from other countries will make Britain the go to place to settle. This week it’s dust from Africa, but next week it will be dust from Eastern Europe or Indian dust. You mark my words.”
Mr Farage promised an end to the unfettered movement of foreign dust under a UKIP government. In a speech to party supporters, he said it was “now clear the government must go further to clamp down on every form of immigration.”
“When foreign dust shows up all over our communities, on our schools and in our lungs we must take a stand!”
‘British surfaces for British dust’
British Prime Minister David Cameron had earlier promised to cut net dust migration by 40%, but Mr Farage insisted words alone were not enough prevent minuscule specks of dust seeking “safe haven” on British streets, cars and anything with a reasonably even surface.
Mr Farage highlighted an increase in emergency 999 calls and a drop in overall health of the nation since the arrival of this latest cloud of foreign dust.
“This is not baseless scaremongering. These are facts,” said the 50-year-old who planned to publish his findings in white paper entitled The Dirty Truth About Immigrant Dust.
In the paper the party suggested “no nonsense measures” to address the growing threat of immigrant dust, “such as some kind of giant Dustbuster at the border.”
