NEW JERSEY – A local man has filed for divorce after his wife was caught kissing Santa Claus in the late hours of Christmas Eve.
Gregory Carter, who took his family to Santa’s Grotto earlier in the year, confirmed he was ending his four-year marriage to his wife Nancy following evidence of an affair with the white-bearded gift giver.
The 31-year-old filed papers in a New Jersey County Superior Court, citing “festive adultery in absence of mistletoe”.
Family troubles
“The marriage is over,” Mr Carter told friends and family as he removed Christmas decorations from him three bedroom home. “I hope she’s happy with that son of bitch”.
Mr Carter was first notified of the ongoing affair when his six-year-old son Jack stumbled across the pair this Christmas Eve.
“When Jack woke me up saying mommy was kissing Santa Claus I raced downstairs and there they were…in my house!”
“And what did this jackass have to say for himself? ‘Ho ho ho Merry Christmas’…well I ain’t laughing buddy.”
Santa reportedly attempted to brush the incident off at the scene until it became obvious the two had been familiar for some time.
“I should have seen the signs,” he said. “Why would she need to sit on Santa’s lap at the Grotto?”
Mr Carter said he had not stopped replaying the scene in his head.
“How could he do this to me? I let him into my home. I bought those milk and cookies, and this is how he repays me?!”
‘I saw mommy kissing Santa Claus’
Mrs Carter was nonchalant about the pending divorce, insisting it had been coming for “a while now”.
Speaking on the incident, Santa said it was not his intention to break up a family “especially around the holiday” but insisted he was “not the bad guy here”.
“I’m in and out of the homes of many wives and this almost never happens,” though he did confess “there was that one time with Mrs Jackson” adding: “Ho ho hoooo…mmm!”
Mr Carter said the whole thing had left him sure he would be celebrating Hanukkah next year.
He also demanded Santa reimburse him for the clear up of reindeer feces on his roof.
