Mafia Boss Shuts Down Local Operation After Reports of Corruption

NEW YORK – Mafia boss John Gambino has today ordered the closure of the Gambino family after reports highlighted the inappropriate conduct of key members of the organisation.

The bombshell comes after it emerged that gunmen allegedly hired by the Gambino family were paid to ‘whack’ individuals of rival organisations and bribe local police authorities.  This led to a wider investigation which uncovered details of systematic illegal activitites to reduce competition

Part of the United States-wide organisation known as the Mafia, the syndicate will close after over 100 years in operation.

Revelations

The shocking discovery has resulted in Mr Gambino deciding to shut down the organisation, ridding the Mafia of what he called ‘rouge elements’ acting completely outside of the spirit of the family.

Up to 100 members of the Gambino family were notified of their sudden redundancy just 72 hours ago, to the surprise of many.

“I was chocked up about it sure,” admitted Anthony “knuckles” Luciano.  “I been here for 10 years cracking sku–err…filing expense reports.  Yeah.  Expense reports.  Anyway, it’s a sad day.”

The scandal widened this week when it emerged that high ranking members were involved in the set up of illegal gabling rackets intimidation tactics to scare competition, police bribery and murder – all examples of behaviour “that has come as a surprise to me as head of this organisation,” according to Mr Gambino.

John Gambino has told the district attorney’s office: “I want to be absolutely clear that as head of the Gambino family I had no knowledge whatsoever of any illegal activities taking place by the people I employed to work for me.”

He later clarified his statement, adding: “I didn’t see nothing.”

‘Illegal activities?  I had no idea’

The embattled boss said the scandal has been very damaging to the image of the Gambino family and promised to launch a full investigation into the allegations of corruption.

However, he dismissed rumors that he would step down – calling such suggestions and unnecessary since “the Feds got nothing on me.”

Gambino told a judge that he was “You’re telling me we got guys in the Mafia out there whacking  people?  I’m shocked and disgusted to learn that such things are taking place right under my nose.”

Gesticulating wildly to emphasise his point, Gambino said:  “How was I to know that these guys were running a mock like this!  I‘m only head of the Mafia, not God.”
