NEW YORK, NY – A local man has stunned Lost fans by claiming to understand plot after spending 8 days since the finale watching every episode in reverse order. Simon Williams, a 23 year old college student, was left with a feeling of confusion over the number of questions left unanswered as the series drew to an end. “There was no way they could have left that many loose ends” explained Williams. “So I watched the previous episode, then the one before that. I saw the whole season in reverse, then every season backwards too. It was all there, everything. We were just watching it wrong”.
Often criticised for random plot twists, throwaway characters and raising more unresolved mysteries than Micheal Jackson’s private life, Mr Williams’ revelation refutes accusations the show’s producers were making things up or using unnecessary story archs to cover for lack of ideas. “You won’t truly understand that third season till you see every flashback in reverse” he added.
Lost is the only series known to demonstrate what the 42 year old Institute of Television Phenomena call ‘Reverse Viewing Effect’, occurring when a show is so confusing it makes more sense watched in reverse chronological order.
Friends of Simon Williams are grateful for his discovery which means they are able to find closure many fans were still searching for. “Simon spent the last 15 hours straight filing in all the gaps” said friend Amy Myers “What happened to Walt. What was really going on between Kate and that horse. How the smoke monster represented America’s irrational fear of the black man…It finally makes sense”.
It was thought RVE may apply to other shows, but after trying to watch recently cancelled Heroes in similar fashion, Mr Williams admitted he still felt indifferent towards it, stopping half way to cut some coupons.
